Certificate in Business Administration

(Effective Summer 2009)

For Non-Business majors desiring coursework in business, the Certificate in Business Administration is available.  Many Non-Business majors embark on career paths that overlap with the business world.  The Certificate in Business Administration exposes students to basic concepts in accounting, business law, economics, finance, marketing, information systems, or management.  The Certificate in Business Administration requires 12 semester hours and can be completed in one summer semester (June and July 5-week sessions), or spread over multiple fall/spring semesters.

Specific requirements for the Certificate in Business Administration are the following:

1. Complete a minimum of 12 hours from the following:

  • a. ACC 2013 Principles of Financial Accounting
  • b. BL 2413 Legal Environment of Business
  • c. EC 2113 Principles of Macroeconomics
  • d. FIN 2003 Personal Money Management
  • e. MKT 3013 Principles of Marketing
  • f. BIS 3233 Management Information Systems
  • g. MGT 3114 Principles of Management and Production

2.  Complete the above 12 hours with a minimum GPA of 2.5, with no grade less than a ‘C'. A minimum of 6 hours must be completed at MSU.

Business majors are not eligible for the Certificate in Business Administration

Students wishing to pursue the Certificate in Business Administration must submit an application after completing 12 of these hours.  The application form includes instructions and suggestions about course selection. Completed applications must be turned in to the the Business Academic Advising Center (106 McCool Hall).
