In October of 2009, Jason and Molly Daerr established The Harold E. Lomenick Endowed Scholarship at Mississippi State University.
Mr. Lomenick was born on July 10, 1948 in Iuka, Mississippi. After graduating from Iuka High School, he attended Northeast MS Community College before receiving his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University in 1972 and his master’s in education in 1976. Since 1980, Mr. Lomenick has been serving clients as a State Farm Insurance Agent in his hometown of Iuka. Mr. Lomenick is active in the Northeast community serving as a Rotarian (past president), member of the Tishomingo County Soil and Water Association (commissioner), and member of the Tishomingo County Development Foundation.
Proudly serving his country, Mr. Lomenick retired from the Mississippi National Guard after 30 years of service as a Brigadier General.
Mr. Lomenick shares his love of Mississippi State University with his wife Judy, daughters Brandi (MSU class of 1992) and Molly (MSU class of 1999) and grandchildren.
Candidates for The Harold E. Lomenick Endowed Scholarship must: 1. Be a full-time student enrolled or scheduled to enroll (entering freshman) in the College of Business. Preference should be given to Business Information Systems or Insurance Risk Management majors at Mississippi State University. If no students qualify from these majors, other majors within the College of Business can be considered. 2. Have demonstrated academic achievement, maintaining a minimum of 3.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale). 3. Be of good moral character and have demonstrated leadership ability. 4. Preference should be given to students that have an established residence (family residence) in Tishomingo County, MS or in the Houston, TX area prior to enrolling at MSU. If no students qualify from these areas, students from other geographical areas can be considered.
